Gloria Hansen – Secretary
Gloria Hansen is an award-winning artist, photographer, and writer with a solid business background. Her artwork has been exhibited throughout the world and featured in books, magazines, and on television. She has been designing using digital media for nearly three decades, and has been involved with Macintosh computers and related technologies since the 1980s. She was an early advocate of electronic bulletin board services and in the mid-1990s began writing about technology, digital-based design, and the Internet. She went on to author 15 non-fiction books (including “Digital Essentials,” which was a USA Book News Best Book Awards Finalist in 2009), has written well over a hundred articles for various magazines, and was a computer-tech columnist for over 15 years.
Gloria worked as a paralegal and office manager for a law office in Princeton, NJ for over 17 years. During the later years at the firm, she earned certifications in web design and production with the goal of changing her career. With writing projects providing the bridge, she combined her various skills into the eventual role of Creative Business Director of a web design and development company. Under her leadership, it won a Webby Worthy Award and two W3 Silver Awards while having several hundred clients in the USA, and many others in England, France, Switzerland, and New Zealand.
At the start of 2001, Margaret Tuchman, the co-founder and President of The Parkinson Alliance, also hired Gloria to design and build the organization’s first website. Gloria’s skill set complemented the growing objectives of the Alliance, and she continued working with Margaret and the organization on a multitude of projects such as additional websites, a variety of print and design work, and event photography. As Margaret’s Parkinson’s progressed, Gloria worked directly with her in helping to keep her goals realized, and their close bond continued until Margaret’s passing. Gloria’s professional relationship with the Alliance continues through present day.
