Is There a Difference in Nigral Dopaminergic Neural Numbers Amongst Normal Individuals of Different Racial Origins?

In a collaborative study, Drs. Uday Muthane (Bangalore, India) and Susan E. Daniel (London) have determined that age of itself is of lesser importance than is racial origin when defining the differences in the numbers of substantia nigral neurons lost due to PD. They learned this by counting remaining neurons in midbrain sections of PD brains in the U.K. Brain Bank in the hope that substantiating ethnic differences may lead to clues to cause(s) of Parkinson's disease.
