Carnegie Center 5K & Fun Run for The Parkinson Alliance
The outburst of rain did not dampen the spirits of the many runners, walkers, and volunteers at the Saturday, October 6, 2001, Carnegie Center 5K & Fun Run at 101 Carnegie Center in West Windsor Township, New Jersey.
Braving wind and rain, over 250 participants came out and ran while raising research dollars for Parkinson's disease. A 1-mile fun run was held prior to the race for youngsters and some parents. Under the tent an army of enthusiastic volunteers worked hard to prepare a spread of drinks, snacks and pizza for the runners to enjoy. Local restaurants and vendors donated all items. Runners were supplied with American Flag bandanas to wear. A moment of silence for those individuals directly affected by the tragic events of 9/11/2001 concluded the race.
The men's winner was Michael Spence, with a time of 15:16, while Kelly Crowley topped the women in a time of 19:20.
The Parkinson Alliance thanks commercial real estate broker Jerry Fennelly, his family, and associates for their third year of outstanding work in making the Carnegie Center 5K & Fun Run a great success. This year's run raised over $35,000.00 for The Parkinson Alliance. The Parkinson Alliance will donate 25% of all net proceeds raised to the Disaster Relief Fund. All remaining net proceeds will go directly to Parkinson's research.
Pharmacia/ Boehringer Ingelheim was this year's Premier Sponsor.
