12th Annual Carnegie Center 5K and One Mile Fun Run
With the support of our sponsors and participants, the 12th Annual Carnegie Center 5K and One Mile Fun Run raised close to $70,000. The net proceeds from this event will go directly to Parkinson’s research and will be matched by The Tuchman Foundation.
This year’s event was successful in every way – an increase in the total number of sponsors including seven new and two returning sponsors; over 600 registered runners – also an increase from last year; new corporate and open teams; more door prizes due to the generosity of area merchants; and a great feeling among the participants.
The morning was overcast but DRY! Given the rain from the day before and the forecast for the day of the 5K, we were very grateful that it didn’t rain. Runners from age 5 through 77 along with their supporters enjoyed an active morning for an important cause. This event continues attract serious runners who participate because it is a USATF sanctioned race, and others who care about someone who has Parkinson’s disease and want to make a difference. In addition, many of our sponsors created teams for their employees and their families.
This is a family friendly event that appeals to all ages. The food was plentiful and all of it was donated. Eurest Dining Services provided pizza and hoagies, Rita’s served ices and new this year – Starbucks served coffee. Gentle Strength Massage Therapy donated their services so runners could have a massage before or after the race. Children were entertained by a face painter and clown and had the choice of two moon bounces - a carousel and a dual slide. After the lucky winners to the door prizes were announced, race awards in various age categories were distributed. Race Results List. View the list of our 5K All Time Top Ten Runners.
