Jeffrey C. Martin

Jeffrey C. Martin is Senior Vice President of Compliance and Government Affairs of retailer Saks Incorporated.
Jeff is also a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Shea & Gardner. He graduated with honors from the University of Chicago Law School in 1978, clerked for U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Spottswood Robinson III in 1978-79, and has practiced law for 20 years. He has been a partner of Shea & Gardner since 1985, where his practice has involved insurance regulation, corporate compliance and major litigation. In 1991-92, Jeff took a break from his private practice to serve as General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Education. He was nominated by President Bush and unanimously confirmed by the Senate.
Jeff currently splits his time between his law practice and Saks. He is also active in supporting increased public and private funding for research on Parkinson’s disease.
Jeff Martin is 46 years of age, lives in Rockville, Maryland, and is married to the former Diane Peterson. They have two daughters: Sarah, age 19, and Laura, age 17.
